Proceeds from Auxiliary projects such as one-day sales, golf tournament, Lights
of Love, Auxiliary membership drive and gift shop sales have been used to purchase equipment such as a sentinel
node machine for the early detection of breast cancer and to sponsor
a room in the new addition to the Medical Center. The Auxiliary helps
supply the various hospital departments with needed equipment which is not included in the budget. Last year, proceeds were directed to new furniture for the Karsesh Wing visitor’s
room, a fountain on the Karesh garden patio, and new furnishings for the EMT
lounge. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s projects will assist in the renovation of the KCMC Oncology
Department.
The organization also
provides scholarships for area students
who are pursuing careers in health-related fields. Currently, more than twenty students who are enrolled in health-care related studies receive scholarship funds from the Hospital Auxiliary of Kershaw
County.
